Mindfulness and Nature Connection
“Remembering our interdependence.”
When was the last time you were able to slow down and feel truly present and connected with a calm mind and relaxed body?
Through a combination of mindfulness, somatic based therapy (Hakomi) and nature connection we can learn how to regulate the nervous system and find balance in the present moment. Once our mind/body is able to relax and let down its “protective mode” we are able to become aware of its innate wisdom and heal. In this often chaotic and fast paced world we have forgotten however how to slow down enough to even be with ourself. Our lifestyles have become imbalanced and out of sync with the natural rhythms on our planet. This imbalance causes dis-ease and so much unnecessary suffering.
Nature and Me
Through my experience and connection with nature, I have learned the most valuable lessons about myself and life. From an early age I have been drawn to the “wild” and “untamed” places still left on earth. Its become clear throughout my life that the more time I spend building “right” relationships with our natural world, the more confidence, acceptance, balance, love, and trust, I grow within myself. We humans are completely interdependent on nature not just for our survival but also in order to thrive. It is time we learned how to build new relationships with ourselves, each other, and the natural world.
I feel very grateful to have grown up in beautiful Santa Barbara, fostering amazing relationships with its many diverse places. Whether at 1 years old eating sand at the beach or 35 exploring the backcountry, nature has always been a place for healing and solace. I have immense gratitude for being able to combine my love of nature with guiding others, and can’t wait to share in the experience!
What can you expect from a nature-based session?
Outdoor sessions are typically longer (90 minutes) and held in a variety of beautiful outdoor locations.
Elements of a session may include:
Mindfulness Meditation (Helps to reconnect with self and natural world).
Grounding movement practices (breath, walk, hike).
Somatic awareness inquiry (Hakomi).
Earth-based connection practices (“The work that reconnects”).
Who’s it for?
Honestly, it benefits everyone!
In particular, I have noticed its great for those with lots of energy or who get bored easily. Its a great way for children who have been in school all day to get outside and move. Walking is also a form of bilateral stimulation helping the mind/body processes information and reduce stress.
“The greatest thing you can do for another being is to provide the unconditional love that comes from making contact with that place in them that is beyond conditions, which is just pure consciousness, pure essence. That is, once we acknowledge each other as existing, just being here, just being, then each of us is free to change optimally. If I can just love you because here we are, then you are free to grow as you need to grow.”
